Praying Rituals And Etiquettes Of Southern China

Introduction:-

China is one of the few countries which is fully developed when it comes to technology. Although being a superpower 香批发商, it has the highest population in the world. Because of this advancement, many believe that this country would be filled with atheists and non-religious people.

Even today, Buddhism and Taoism are the most popular religions in this country. Since it is one of the oldest countries in the world, it houses some of the oldest shrines and monasteries. There are sculptures and temple architecture here that are jaw-dropping.

Etiquettes to be followed in southern China concerning religious beliefs:-

Several etiquettes need to be followed when entering, exiting, or viewing any temple, church, or mosque in southern China. They are as follows:-

1. Say no to pictures

One of the most idiotic things that foreigners do is take out their smartphone and click a selfie. This is regarded as highly disrespectful to the gods and goddesses in the temple and the monks.

2. Cleanliness

Of course, being clean matters the most. Also, you need to have a clean heart and have something good to offer god. Even in mosques, one must always enter to pray. 

3. Incense sticks

These are the most crucial praying material needed inside most temples. One must always use the left hand to hold the incense stick and wait until it burns out, and only then you can leave the temple. 

4. Advice to women

Women who are on their periods are advised not to enter the temples. Of course, these were traditions of ancient times, but still, some temples ask for the same. 

5. Wine

A beautiful tradition in China states that the longer the line of pouring your wine is, the longer you would live. Therefore, after prayers, one must pour out white wine into small cups, passed to other worshippers. 

6. Respect the dead

Another beautiful tradition that exists in China is after you have prayed to the gods/goddesses, you need to pay your respect to the dead. So families father around memorials of the deceased and hold a mourn by being silent for a minute or so and praying for the deceased. 

7. Eat while you can

After you are done with your prayers and rituals, the offered food is then eaten, and this food is termed holy and blessed. Also, it is advised not to leave the temple with the holy food unless it is necessary for the sick at home.
